We were lucky to find a group of young architects who are building a place in Tbilisi to bring together progressive-minded people. A place called Fabrika will be a creative space housed in a former Soviet-era sewing factory from the 1970s-80s, located near the Plekhanovi district, an old part of the city.
Fabrika will include hostel, which will provide accommodation for budget travelers from around the world. In addition Fabrika will include handful of bars and cafés, as well as an art studio, exhibition space, creative education studio, stencil studio, furniture atelier etc.; essentially Fabrika should become one large, multi-purpose HUB. This is exactly the home we were looking for. Impact Hub Tbilisi will be the Hub inside a big Hub!
Our space in Fabrika is a 307 m2 with natural light. Huge windows offer a great view on the historical buildings of old Tbilisi and on the Fabrika yard full of life and energy. The renovation of the space is almost ready – cozy and minimalistic. We arranged a co-design event to involve our potential community members in the co-creation of the design and functionality of the space. The co-design event and inspirations from other hubs around the world resulted in the desired balance between community and private spaces to facilitate the activities of a wide spectrum of potential users.
